About this programme

The Diploma in Labour Law aims to cultivate diverse skills and knowledge that enable the learner to address labour-related issues such as negotiations, arbitration and mediation in the workplace.

Exit outcomes

  • Equip working professionals in the labour-law field with the knowledge and capacities required to act as dispute-resolution practitioners — including arbitrators, mediators and conciliators — and to enable trade union and employer representatives to participate more effectively in labour dispute-resolution processes.
  • Equip students with theoretical and professional knowledge and skills, preparing them for specialised labour-law practice, further study or application of labour-law knowledge and skill.
  • Produce suitably qualified graduates with the initiative, responsibility and ethical standards to promote fair labour practices and the development of just labour relations.

Entry requirements

Direct entry

  • BGCSE, IGCSE, HIGCSE or equivalent, including a credit in English Language (a minimum of 30 points from your best 6 subjects); OR
  • NCQF-level Certificate V in Law or a related area from a recognised institution, obtained with a minimum classification of a credit, or an equivalent qualification.

Mature entry

For mature-age entry, an admissions panel will consider an application to pursue the qualification. In determining the application, the panel takes into account all qualifications, the age of the applicant and the candidate's motivation for applying. This may also include Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), in which work experience plays an important role.
